Ms. Hockey Awards Banquet set for Sunday

 

In the last two issues of Let’s Play Hockey  the five finalists were announced for the Ms. Hockey and Senior Goalie of the Year awards, presented to the top senior girls’ high school hockey player/goalie in Minnesota. The winners of both awards will be named at the Ms. Hockey Awards Banquet on Sunday, Feb. 24, at 11:30 a.m., at the RiverCentre in St. Paul. The awards are sponsored by Let’s Play Hockey, the Minnesota Wild and Shock Doctor.

To order tickets to the Ms. Hockey banquet, call Let’s Play Hockey at 612-729-0023. The $25 price includes lunch. Tickets must be purchased prior to 5 p.m., on Friday.

Class of 1996 ready to come of age

Most of the amateur hockey world will be focused on the Class of 1995-born players as the NHL Entry Draft approaches this June, but it will be interesting to pay attention to what happens with the Class of 1996 as the Spring tournaments unfold. The 2014 NHL Draft will be the end-game for those born after Sept. 15, 1995, and before Sept. 15, 1996 (hence, the “Class of 1996”), but a good portion of the groundwork for those future draft picks will be laid in the Reebok High Performance U17 camps and USHL tryout camps, and the USA Hockey National Camp thereafter.

Hauser bringing wealth of knowledge to Minnesota Made

 

Former Golden Gopher and professional goaltender Adam Hauser was brought on staff this winter at Minnesota Made Hockey as the new Director of Goaltending. Hauser brings an extensive background from his hockey experiences and is very detail-oriented in teaching and developing young goalies.

Arianna Reid: A teen for change

A true Minnesotan, Arianna Reid not only loves hockey but has a genuine concern for those around her.

Ari is currently an assistant captain of the Lakeville South High School girls’ hockey team. She has been playing hockey for the varsity team at Lakeville South since she was an eighth grader and spends her offseasons skating with the Minnesota Junior Whitecaps. She has worked very hard so that she could continue to participate in the sport she loves. Next fall she will be heading to Providence College to play Division I hockey. Although hockey is very important to her, there are other things that are even more important in her life.
