The Minnesota Girls Hockey Coaches Association will host its annual Fall Clinic and General Membership Meeting at the National Sport Center on October 12th and 13th. The clinic and meeting will take place at the Schwan Convention Center located on the N.S.C. campus in Blaine, MN. Check-in and registration will begin at 8:00 AM on Friday and Saturday mornings.
All coaches are invited to attend this clinic. Confirmed to speak at this year’s clinic are Brian Stoll, Abe Abrahamson, Craig Perry, Andy Shriver, Dick Emahiser, Julianne Vasichek and Bob Mancini. Topics will include off-ice in-season training, overspeed and power skating, adapting the ADM program into the high school practice, dealing with social media and how it affects your team chemistry and team communication.
As always, we will have our MSHSL Rules Interpretation included during the course of the clinic (This is required for all Head Coaches by the MSHSL). There will also be a coaches drill sharing presentation where some of our best coaches share their favorite drills with all of the other coaches. The MGHCA Exec Council will discuss website changes and other programs associated with the MGHCA.
Coaches who are in attendance both days can also complete their USA Hockey Level 3 certification or re-certification. Coaches must be present the entire clinic to qualify for certification. This certification is required if a coach is interested in coaching in any our off-season programs including the Senior Classic, Junior Festival, the MN Hockey High Performance Programs, the MGHCA Development Camp, the Elite 2 Development League or the Reebok/CCM High School National Invitational Tournament.
During the General Membership meeting we will recognize our Head and Assistant Section Coaches of the Year as well as the Class A and AA Coaches of the Year. We will also be discussing all of the programs and activities that are sponsored by our coaches association that include the Charlie Stryker Scholarship, the All-State Awards, the Senior Classic, the Junior Festival, the MGHCA Development Camp and other programs and activities. We will also have time for Section Meetings for coaches to discuss and share information with the entire MGHCA membership.
Cost for the clinic is only $45 per coach. Coaches that pre-register will receive a gift when they check in at the clinic on Friday morning. Head coaches are encouraged to invite their entire coaching staffs to this event. This year there are two ways register for the clinic. You can send your registration via the USA mail or you can register online by going to the MGHCA website and clicking on the registration link.
