RAYHA Hall of Fame nominations accepted now

The Roseville Area Youth Hockey Association (RAYHA) is now accepting nominations for its Hall of Fame.

Two years ago, RAYHA opened the doors to their Hall of Fame with the induction of the “First Four” Don Black, Jack Brodt, Dick Czaia, and John Savre. Last year Milt Anderson, Denny & Sandy Malarkey, and Frank Rog joined the exclusive club. While we can never give them the recognition that would be equal what they have given us, their recognition was long overdue. If you were present for IceBreaker II or III, you know what a special event this is. If you were not there, you absolutely can’t miss this year’s event.

Local associations focus on growth initiatives

The 2 and 2 Challenge is a national program designed to help youth hockey leaders grow their associations by focusing on acquiring 2 additional players and retaining 2 players that would have otherwise left. The goal of the program is to bring recruiting and retention practices to the forefront of association’s agenda in order to booster growth.

In order to complete the 2 and 2 Challenge, associations must participate in three different events. The first part of the challenge is called Welcome Back Week, which is oriented around retention. Each association is provided with a list of kids that played last year but haven’t registered yet. Then, they are responsible for coordinating phone calls to each of these families in which the focus is to provide information about registration, invite them back and emphasize the positive benefits of playing hockey like having fun.
