COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Hockey announced the players selected for both the 2024 U.S. Collegiate Women’s Select Team and the 2024 Under-18 Women’s Select Team today. Both squads will face Canada in a three-game series on August 14, 15 and 17 in St. Catharines, Ontario. 2024 U.S. COLLEGIATE WOMEN’S SELECT TEAM The U.S. Collegiate Women’s Select Team features nine players who recently competed for Team USA at the 2024 IIHF Women’s World Championship in April, including Joy Dunne (O’Fallon, Mo.), Lacey Eden (Annapolis, Md.), Laila Edwards (Cleveland Heights, Ohio), Rory Guilday (Chanhassen, Minn.), Caroline Harvey (Salem, N.H.), Tessa Janecke (Warren, Ill.), Syd Morrow (Darien, Ct.), Kirsten Simms (Plymouth, Mich.) and Haley Winn (Rochester, N.Y.). The team is comprised of 12 forwards, eight defenders and three goaltenders. Nine different college programs are represented on Team USA with the University of Wisconsin leading the way with seven players. Ohio State University boasts five players on the roster, while Cornell University and the University of Minnesota both have three. Boston University, Clarkson University, Northeastern University, Penn State University and St. Cloud State University all have one athlete on the team as well. The U.S. Collegiate Women’ Select Team is normally referenced as the U.S. Under-22 Women’s Select Team, but due to extended collegiate eligibility, all players with collegiate eligibility were able to make the team. Bella Fanale (Webster, N.Y.), and Megan Healy (South Burlington, Vt.). Twelve forwards, 10 defenders and three goaltenders make up the roster of 25 players. Fifteen states boast at least one player, with seven players from Massachusetts, three from Minnesota and two from Illinois. California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Virginia and Washington each have one representative from their state. The series serves as an exciting precursor to the annual International Ice Hockey Federation Under-18 Women’s World Championship.
Following the 2023 series, the U.S. holds a 14-3-5-23 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record all-time in event history, having met 15 previous times.
