Hermantown, Warroad and East Grand Forks make up the top 3 in Class A with lots of games to be played this week.

Delano dives into the top 5

Delano was the big mover this week after two huge victories over No. 7 Mahtomedi and No. 2 St. Cloud Cathedral. They improved to 7-2-0 and moved into the top five at No. 4.

Cathedral, who has been hampered by injuries, falls to No. 5.

East Grand Forks moves back up to No. 3 and seem to be playing like they were at the start of the season. Warroad continues to click along at No. 2 and is chasing top-ranked Hermantown who lost and tied last week to a pair of Class AA teams. The Hawks lost to No. 9AA Rosemount and tied unranked Duluth Denfeld. Warroad and Hermantown will face off Jan. 13. in Hermantown.

There are lots go games on the docket for this week as several teams will be competing in holiday tournaments so these rankings, which were compiled from coaches votes before any of Tuesday’s games, are likely to change a lot come next week.

If anything, it gives hockey fans an idea of who is who and where they stand amongst the competition. As the season continues to take shape so does the crystal ball in determining which teams have the best chance of charging onto the ice at the X come early March.
