Top teams keep their winning ways

Good teams keep winning, even against good teams, which is why the Class A Girls Rankings didn’t change much this week with all top five teams maintaining their spots.

Top-ranked Warroad earned a pair of wins over East Grand Forks and Fort Frances (ON), and Dodge County beat New Ulm and Apple Valley to secure their No. 2 rankings. No. 3 Breck didn’t play, and No. 4 Blake beat Prior Lake and Western Wisconsin to secure the third and fourth spots. Orono defeated Holy Angels and Delano/Rockford to improve to 7-4 and maintain the No. 5 slot. Holy Angels, meanwhile, fell out of the top 20 after falling to 1-8-1 despite their tough schedule, and Delano/Rockford debuted at No. 20.

There was some shifting in 6-10 with Albert Lea jumping to No. 6 from No. 8, Marhsall falling to No. 7 and Mankato East up a spot to No. 8. Those three southern teams, ironically, aarea ll in different sections and could end up in the state tournament together.

Proctor/Hermantown fell a couple spots to No. 9 with a lone win over Hibbing/Chisholm last week and Westonka/Southwest Christian stayed at No. 10 after a win over Mrshall, but then a loss to Delano/Rockford.

Three teams made their debuts in the Top 20 with East Grand Forks coming in at No. 17 with Thief River Falls coming in at No. 18 and Delano/Rockford at No. 20.
