Twin Cities high school hockey coach fighting rare cancer
Benefit planned for April 14 in Cottage Grove

Cole Bassett, a 41-year-old local high school hockey coach and skills instructor for Park High School, is fighting a rare cancer.  There will be a benefit in his honor to raise funds to help offset medical costs and living expenses.

The benefit will be held at the Cottage Grove Ice Arena in Cottage Grove, Minnesota on Sunday, April 14 from 6-8 p.m. Skating, DJ, silent auction, pizza/beverages and Dairy Queen are some of the festivities.

Bassett, Oakdale, Minn., was a member of the U.S. National Team Development Program before playing for four years at Minnesota State. Following his career with the Mavericks, Bassett played professionally for two seasons before beginning his coaching career.

A GoFundMe site has been created for those who wish to donate.
